JUNIOR HIGH SCIENCE TRIP NatureBridge, Olympic Park April 23-28, 2017
This year's science trip will be to NatureBridge, Olympic Park, which is near Port Angeles, Washington on the northern point of the Olympic Peninsula. After NatureBridge Camp, we will be taking the ferry to Victoria, B.C. According to the web site, students under the age of 18, traveling with a school group need an original birth certificate, a passport, or a notarized copy of a birth certificate to enter Canada.
NatureBridge has a camp on Lake Crescent, about 20 miles west of Port Angeles. The camp has lodges, science labs and many miles of trails and temperate rainforest areas to explore. The science instructors are trained in forestry science, water-shed ecology, marine biology, environmental protection and work with the students in classroom labs and in the outdoors.
The cost for just the camp is $265.00 per student. The cost for the complete science trip will be about $400.00. All 7th and 8th graders are expected to participate in the science trip, as it is a major part of our yearly science curriculum. There will be some opportunities for students to raise the money for the trip, and some scholarship money is available to help with expenses. (In past years there have been a number of students who worked hard at fundraising and were able to pay for their entire trip.)
We will need a number of parents to come along on the trip and help with transportation and supervision. Let me know if you are considering going and/or have any questions.
